Maxine Jeffries is now in her 42nd year at First Baptist Church of Hammond, IN.  Under her leadership, the attendance in the Deaf Department of the church has grown from eight the first Sunday to an average attendance of 150 each Sunday.  She oversees 75 faithful workers in the Deaf Department, and she interprets services.  She also teaches the Sign Language course at Hyles-Anderson College.  In addition to her responsibilities with the Deaf, she oversees the ministries to the handicapped and shut-ins of the church.  Before coming to Hammond, Maxine Jeffries worked 12 years for Dr. John R. Rice at Sword of the Lord.
